Mediators, 2007 will be the year of video marketing

2 December 2006

Fellow mediators and conflict managers,

2005 was the year that blogging really exploded on the scene

2006 was the year that podcasting really took off

I predict that 2007 will be the year of the videos and vlogs (video blogs) as personal marketing tools.  [I realize this isn’t an earth shattering prediction :) .  After all, Google just bought You Tube for a record $1.65 billion in stock].

We can be proud that our very own Geoff Sharp is helping mediators worldwide not miss the curveball and join the game.  If you haven’t yet checked out the mediation vlog you really must.  www.mediationvblog.com

What better way to educate the public about the benefits of mediation and how we can help them with their conflict than a demonstrative video?

Read on because I am going to share with you an easy way you will be able to send Geoff a video and also add video to your online presence (and make it sizzle…)

I just came across some really cool tools that will make your ability to add video presentations to your website and to your blog easy!

Imagine if prospective clients could go to your blog or website and play a short video from you (where you go over your marketing message and how you can help them solve their most pressing conflict dilemmas).

Since mediation and conflict management are such personal services, these technology tools will really help you to demonstrate who you are and what you have to offer.

Video is going to be the next big thing (arguably it already is) but as technology makes it easier and cheaper for the small business professional to use this technology — it will proliferate.

Mediator marketers, here are some tools to get you started:

1.  Purchase a web camera or a camcorder that can connect directly to your PC (I’m going to do this tomorrow).  Search online or check out your local Radio Shack, Circuit City, Best Buy etc.  You can get a web cam for around $30 or a good camcorder for anywhere from $160 upward.

2.  Check out the new video creation software that allows you to easily edit videos, has backgrounds (once you place a screen behind you), and allows you to place graphics and text to create a video presentation.  This is really cool software by Serious Magic (its called the Visual Communicator 2.0).  Serious Magic was recently purchased by Adobe.  You can see an online demonstration of the software at work and get a free trial version of the software!  I haven’t tried it yet but as soon as I get my camera, I’m going to and I’ll post a vlog here to show you.

3.  Serious Magic also has vlog software you can buy for under $50 that will help you create video blogs to upload to your blog!  It’s called Vlog It!  They offer you a free 15 day trial.  You can’t beat that.  Check it out.

Now, it is inexpensive and easy to create good quality and professional looking videos.

In a subsequent post, we can discuss some ways that you can make your video presentation compelling… and attract clients to hire you!

NEVER GIVE UP!

Your partner in peace,

Kristina Haymes
